This blog is on the official website of Blood on the Leaves (no sh*t) - the second feature film from Sideline Pictures. So who and what is a Sideline Pictures? What have they done before this? How are they approaching this movie? Who the hell is driving this thing? Let the founder tell ya more about it.
Sideline Pictures is an independent film company based out of DuBois, Pennsylvania. It was conceived during my time in the very hands-on John Russo Movie Making film program at DuBois Business College where I wrote and directed several film projects. They were the short rom com Love Interrupted, the sports doc Hey, Coach: The Sideline Story, and then the web series Blue Card (produced alongside Craig Inzana's Ice Burgh films). With the exception of Love Interrupted, these films were originally created as a grade, but with consistent praise and confidence in my own abilities growing, an umbrella stamp on these projects and future films was a logical step.

Sideline Pictures comes from my love of the music of New York based rapper J. Cole (Power Trip, Work Out) whose first album was titled Cole World: The Sideline Story. I listened to that album nonstop and know every single word he spits on that record. J. Cole strived for years to make it in the rap game, constantly creating music and constantly being rejected. Trying to find a lane but he was denied over and over. But he didn't quit. "I wish somebody made guidelines... on how to get up off the sideline" ("Sideline Story") describes the struggle of making it into the game.
He released three classic mixtapes before he got off the sidelines and topped the charts with his first album. He's a doer. I bring this attitude of getting out there and doing it and making it (whatever "it" is) no matter what to Sideline Pictures. The name of this film company does not mean we're stubbornly independent and aren't good enough to play. We are good enough to play. Watch. We are off the sidelines, we're doing things, but we'll never forget the struggle. I know, probably a little deep for a film company name, but true passion is in the details.
Blood On The Leaves is a perfect fit for Sideline Pictures. It's a story of survival and overcoming struggle. Let's get out there do it.
